COVID-19 

The City of Brooklyn Center is actively monitoring the outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). 
The safety of our residents, participants and staff is of utmost importance at Brooklyn Center Recreation. 

In an abundance of caution and in effort to slow the spread of the virus the Brooklyn Center Recreation has made the following changes:

Recreation staff will be available Monday-Friday, 8am – 4:30pm via phone and email.

Brooklyn Center Recreation will provide a status update regarding programs and Summer program registration by April 30. 

All Winter-Spring recreation programs are canceled. 

The Brooklyn Center Community Center will be closed until further notice. 

Summer recreation program registration is postponed. 

City of Brooklyn Center playgrounds are closed until further notice. 

The 2020 Dudley/Budweiser Classic Softball Tournament has been canceled. 

The Centerbrook Golf Open House will be rescheduled. 

The purpose of the cancelations is to implement social distancing measures and reduce exposure.

Effective Wednesday, March 18, all public buildings with the exception of the police department will be closed to the general public. Police counter service will be open for police related business exclusively. 

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and support as we try to protect the health of our residents, participants and staff, while monitoring the evolving situation.

The Community Activities, Recreation and Services Department includes Recreation, the Community Center, Centerbrook Golf Course and the Government Buildings Division

  • Active Older Adults: Community Tripsters, speakers, senior luncheons and social groups
  • Adult Recreation: Fitness classes, swim lessons, pottery and specialty classes
  • Community Events: Entertainment in the Park, Earle Brown Days Festival, Dudley/Budweiser Classic Softball Tournament, Halloween Party, Step To It, and Holly Sunday   
  • Adult Sports: basketball, volleyball and softball leagues
  • Youth Recreation: youth soccer, swim lessons, dance, summer camps, art camps, Pre-K programs, Rec On The Go, Safety Academy, Home Alone Safety
