Ensuring neighborhoods are safe and attractive is a high priority goal for the City. Several programs and activities are in place to address this goal from maintaining the housing stock to helping reoccupy vacant housing with responsible homeowners.
   
Loan Programs
The City of Brooklyn Center and Center for Energy and Environment offers multiple low-interest loan programs. These  home improvement funds for owner-occupied properties. 

Assistance Programs
The Community Emergency Assistance Program (CEAP) is a community-based charity that partners with other resources to assist people in need in the Twin Cities.

Some of CEAP's assistance programs include:
  • Food Assistance
  • Financial Assistance
  • Clothing Closet
  • Transportation Assistance
  • Meals on Wheels

Senior Community Services offers the Household & Outside Maintenance for Elderly (HOME) program. The HOME program provides low cost services to help seniors (60 and older) continue to live independently in their own homes.

The Energy Assistance Program (EAP) provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services helps pay home heating costs and furnace repairs for income-qualified households.
