Brooklyn Center Employees Participate in the Adopt-A-Family Program

In 2005, the Brooklyn Center Police Department was approached by school staff from Earle Brown Elementary asking if we would like to participate in the Adopt-A-Family Program; purchasing Christmas gifts for a family in need. The police department staff was very excited to help a family in the community they serve. In the past, area churches and most recently the Community Corner (located at the corner of Humboldt Ave. N and 69th Avenue) have helped the department find a family in need. Participating in this program for 12 years has been a humbling experience.

The family that receives the donations each year has not been aware of the program until the gifts have been delivered. Last year the donation pool for this worthy cause included all City staff for the first time. All donations for this effort come from City staff and city funds are not used. The holiday giving is part of the police department’s ongoing efforts to positively interact with the community it serves. Heartfelt appreciation goes out to everyone for partnering with law enforcement in order to make the worthy efforts possible.
